An exceptional conversion of this grade II listed building

A prestigious Grade II listed residential development in the town of Bingley, West Yorkshire

Priestthorpe Hall or “The Old Vicarage” as most locals refer to the property dates back to 1635 when it was owned by the Dobson family, during the following century the property was extended considerably, adding a wing and the south-facing Georgian façade. During the period the property was owned by a multiple ownership which reputedly included Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson.

Several tenants occupied the house after this, together with the vicars of Bingley – hence the name “The Old Vicarage” Like the supposed connections with Lord Nelson there is another rumoured tale which that one of the previous owners a Mr Brinley Jagger was a relation of Joseph Jagger of Shelf who was renowned for being the man who broke the Bank of Monte Carlo in 1875, over an 8 day period his gambling spree won him 4 million old francs – equivalent to £400,000, he sadly died in 1892 having spent all his money.

Over the later years the building has had many uses and more recently has been occupied as offices before coming vacant in early 2009.
